IntroductionnnNepal Pharmacy Council is a regulatory authority established through Nepal Pharmacy Council Act, 2000 to make effective pharmacy profession through systematic and scientific operation. The functions, duties and power of the council are as the followings:n

- To prepare policy, plan and program for the scientific management and operation of pharmacy profession and implement them
n
- To provide recognition to the educational institutions and the diploma or degree provided by such institutions.
n
- To determine the standard of curricula, condition for admission and examination system of the educational institutions providing pharmacy degree and ask the details as required whether standard so determined are met or not and abrogate the certificate and degree awarded by the educational institutions which do not comply with standard so determined.

- To determine the qualification required to carry out pharmacy practice and register the name as pharmacist and pharmacy assistant.
n
- To remove the name of pharmacist or pharmacy assistant from the registration book if not observed the professional specified code of conduct.

nMajor Activities of the counciln

- The council has developed guidelines for the minimum requirement for running diploma, undergraduate and post graduate programs
n
- Provides accreditations to the pharmacy colleges
n
- Provides no objection certificate to the students willing to join undergraduate course in foreign colleges
n
- Have developed code of conduct in pharmacy practice, minimum qualification required to be an author for pharmacy text books
n
- Providing registration after licensing examination
n
- Development of pharmacy curriculum
n
- Radio programs for promotion and development of pharmacy profession
n
- Active role to combat antimicrobial resistance and rational use of drugs
n

- Cash relief to the earth quake victims with the help of FAPA and its member organizations
n
- Special radio education program to earthquake victims of Nepal
n
n nn[FAPA Member Associations Write-Up Series]:nSince FAPA’s expending its exposure and influence in Asia, we also would like to urge our Member Associations to be aware by the region colleagues, especially in pharmacy. In these serveries, we’ve kindly request the current 18 ordinary members of FAPA to provide 100~200 write-up and also a short film (<3minutes) to introduce us again the organization, its efforts in developing pharmacy profession, and also its expectation to FAPA, to work with FAPA to this global healthcare system.
